Express entry Canada: important information

Express Entry is the most popular and the fastest immigration pathway to Canada where skilled workers are chosen based on their skills and ability to contribute to Canada’s economy. Express Entry manages applications for three immigration programs:

• Federal Skilled Worker Program

• Federal Skilled Trades Program

• Canadian Experience Class

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced new categories under the Express Entry program that are aimed at reducing the labour shortage throughout Canada as well as growing the prominence of the French language in French minority communities outside of Quebec. 

Category-based draws are expected to begin this year which will allow Canada to issue ITA's (Invitations to apply) to prospective applications with specific skills, training or language abilities. The focus will be on Express Entry Candidates who have  experience in one of the following fields:

• STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics -- professions 

• Healthcare 

• Transport 

• Trades like carpenters, plumbers and contractors 

• Agriculture or agri-foods 

• French language proficiency (minimum score of 7 in all 4 language abilities)

If a candidate gets Permanent Residence (PR) through Express Entry, they have the freedom to move and work anywhere in Canada.
